About this pledge
Formed in 2018 after the Grenfell disaster and in response to a worsening housing crisis, Back the Bill is a coalition between Tai Pawb, the Chartered Institute of Housing Cymru, and Shelter Cymru campaigning to introduce the right to adequate housing to Wales. To date, we have garnered support from housing and charity leaders, academics, policy experts, and politicians across the political spectrum.
The United Nations considers adequate housing a fundamental human right and part of having a decent standard of living.
We have made progress towards the realisation to the Right To Adequate Housing since 2018. However, proposals so far have fallen short of hard-wiring a legal commitment to providing housing as a human right.
We are excited about the possibilities of legislating on a Right To Adeqaute Housing in the near future, with cross-party support in the Senedd. Please keep an eye out for Back the Bill colaition updates to learn more about Right To Adequate Housing and progress on the campaign.
Show your commitment to equality by signing the pledge.
We ask you to join us in calling for housing to be recognised as a fundamental right in Wales by filling the linked form to become a signatory to the Right To Adequate Housing.
