MHFA is essential training for everybody and is especially relevant to those working in housing. Mental health challenges, such as anxiety and depression are common; one in four people will experience some form of difficulty with their mental health in the course of a year.
There still exists a level of stigma associated with mental health, which affects how readily people seek help. Many of us are not well-informed about mental health generally, leaving us unsure of how to respond if something crops up. Adult Mental Health First Aid is the help provided to a person who is developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem, or in a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until the appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves. This course will give participants a secure understanding of MHFA for adults.
