This 60‑minute session is part of our Let’s Talk About… series and introduces the concept of microaggressions and their impact in workplace and service settings.
A microaggression is a subtle comment or action, often unintentional, that can leave someone feeling uncomfortable, undermined or excluded. While they may appear minor in isolation, their cumulative impact can affect wellbeing, confidence and working relationships.
This session explores how microaggressions can present in housing services and day‑to‑day interactions with colleagues and customers. Participants consider why microaggressions matter, how they link to dignity at work and equality responsibilities, and the role individuals and organisations can play in recognising and addressing them.
The session also complements our Recognising and Challenging Bias training, which explores the psychology behind bias in more depth.
This session is suitable for staff at all levels. It is particularly relevant for those working with colleagues, customers or service users. No prior knowledge is required.
