This session provides a snapshot of our half‑day LGBTQIA+ history course and offers an accessible introduction to the historical context shaping the experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, asexual, pansexual and other LGBTQIA+ people.
The course explores key moments in LGBTQIA+ history, including social movements, legislation and changes in rights up to the present day. Participants are supported to understand how historical discrimination continues to influence attitudes, policy and lived experience in contemporary workplaces, communities and housing settings.
The session also considers the impact of prejudice, both past and present, and encourages reflection on why equality, diversity and inclusion matter for individuals, organisations and communities. Participants are supported to recognise exclusion and discrimination and to understand the role organisations can play in creating more equitable and inclusive environments.
Sessions can be tailored to organisational context.
