Fair and Inclusive Recruitment in Practice

paid
In person, Online
Everyone
A practical session supporting staff involved in recruitment to recognise how bias can influence decisions and apply fair, consistent and inclusive approaches across recruitment and selection processes.

Course objectives

Recruitment decisions shape organisational culture, opportunity and representation. This course supports staff to understand how bias can influence recruitment practices and where this is most likely to occur during recruitment and selection.

The session focuses on recruitment in practice, using housing‑relevant examples to explore how assumptions, stereotypes and organisational norms can affect shortlisting, interviewing and appointment decisions. Participants are supported to reflect on current approaches and consider practical steps to strengthen fairness, transparency and consistency.

The course emphasises realistic actions that can be applied within existing recruitment processes and supports organisations to reduce the impact of bias in day‑to‑day recruitment decision making.

Sessions can be tailored to organisational context and delivered as a standalone workshop.
